Hi there & welcome to Annie's Place. A place inspired by and named after my late Grandmother Annie. Somewhere I can be creative, and share my love for all things hand made. I like nothing better than sitting with hook & yarn, crafting something home spun & completely unique, or rustling up some yummy baked goodies. I live in a town with a beautiful embankment, situated on the River Great Ouse. You may know me as 'Colour-Heaven' on Flickr or 'CosyKitty' on Ravelry. Why not stop a while.....?!!

Channel your inner Christmas....

Well, that's what Kirstie Allsopp suggests we do! For those that saw Kirstie's Vintage Christmas this past week, you may recollect her saying those four words, and it struck a chord with me. See, I don't think I have channelled my inner Christmas yet?!!
It's been so chaotic thus far, that I haven't had chance to really soak up the atmosphere properly. I should finally have that opportunity this weekend, when I can take a deep breath and relax into the festivities. I hope to take in a Carol concert or two, that's sure to help. There's nothing quite like hearing a choir sing all the festive classics, to get you into the spirit of things.

Sadly, there's been little craft action going on round here this week. Although I have been marvelling at the grand efforts made by lots of other lovely bloggers. So many fantastic ideas and inspiration! I have every confidence that there will be plenty of hooky action in the new year though, so watch this space!

If anyone wants me, this is where I'll be for the most part.
Snuggled up under my Granny Stripe on the sofa!

I would like to wish each and every one of you

A HAPPY CHRISTMAS
& A HEALTHY,
PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR

  1. That happened to me last week. I was driving and heard a lovely rendition of some carols and I thought,`I`m missing Christmas!`` So after that I have settled down and am enjoying what`s left until the big day, when sadly it all seems the spriit just drifts away once dinner is over. I think today I`ll snuggle under my stripey crochet blanket too:) Blessings for a wonderful Christmas!

  3. I was channelling my inner Christmas until the start of this week...then the panic set in! I have now finished work for this year and can take stock of what still needs to be done (I feel like the mum in the Asda advert!). I think I will do as you do and snuggle under my granny stripe blanket, take a deep breath and start again tomorrow. Your owl is wonderful. Have a fantastic Christmas and a Happy New Year.

  4. Same here. Chaotic and still not finding the right atmosphere. Found it hard to make christmas cookies, too, with a toddler wanting to eat the dough all the time. Really hope it is going to change tomorrow with decorating our tree (hubby got his will... traditionally the tree is decorated on the morning of the 24th here in Germany...).

Happy Christmas to you and looking forward to seeing more of your gorgeous projects in 2013!

  5. Merry Christmas :) I'm sure you're inner Christmas will be channelled in no time if you stay put in that lovely festive room you've got! Your tree looks lovely, I wish I had a fireplace too - I'd decorate it with all sorts of lights & things :)

  6. I giggled at the "channelling your inner Christmas" :-) I have no idea who Kirstie Allsop is though, I feel like I should investigate ;-) Things are a bit chaotic over here as well, I still haven't bought all the present, eeek :S Luckily when I want to get in the spirit, I just have to step outside, Brussels is hosting a very nice christmas market and the entire centre smells of glühwein, waffles and chocolate, nom nom. Wishing you a very merry christmas and a brilliant, healthy and inspirational 2013!! xxxx

    1. Oh you are SO lucky being in Brussels. It must be amazing there this time of year!! Very jealous. Kirstie is famous for being on UK TV as a property expert, but she also has a love for all things handmade/vintage, and has done a few shows about that. She happens to be Cath Kidston's cousin too....!

Love and light to you and your's Nanita. Happy happy Christmas xxx

    1. Merry Christmas to you and your family Sam! No, I haven't finished the Granny Stripe yet. I expect it'll be a while before I get to the end of that mammoth task. I'm not the fastest crocheter to be honest, and I get side-tracked very easily. So many wips on the go at once :) Thank you for the compliments, so very appreciated xxx

  8. Well! I didn't know Kirstie was Cath Kidston's cousin... interesting. I've just told my hubs this and he claims to know who Cath K is!! Your crochet is so beautiful and you have such a flair with colour, it is always a treat visiting your blog. I hope you get a big chunk of time for crafting this Christmas; enjoy yourself xx

    1. Indeed, yes she is. I'm very impressed that your hubby would even know who Cath K is!! Me thinks he's got a lot of brownie points lately, what with doing such a fantastic job painting your new unit?! you're super lucky :o) Thank you so much for the lovely words about my crochet. I'm really glad I took the plunge now to start blogging. I hope my hook will be smoking in the New Year, fingers crossed. In fact, I think I might go and do a few stitches now.......festive wishes xx
